Recruitment Day

Recruitment Day for our upcoming 2021 season is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 10th from 10am to 1pm.  We're an organization of over 675+ and growing each year!   Come out and see how much fun gay softball can be and no experience is necessary.

Bring: Your mask and a glove!

What To Expect

The timeline for Sunday:

10:00 - 10:30 - Registration
10:30 - 12:30 - Clinic and Drills
12:30 - 1:00 - Find a team

You only need a softball glove and comfortable athletic attire.  Plan for  full sun for a couple hours!  Bring sun glasses, a  face covering, caps or scarfs, sweat bands and towels, and plenty of water!  

About the League

MSLA is an non-profit 501(c)3 organization established in 1980 to provide a competitive softball league to the LGBTQ community throughout the Greater Houston Area. 

We have between 30 and 40 teams active during our Spring season and have an active non-gay and non-player membership as well. Our league is divided into four divisions:

  • A: Highly skilled players
  • B: Skilled players
  • C: Moderately-skilled players
  • D: Players with limited skills and experience
  • E:  Players with basic skills including beginners
  • Masters: Players age 50+ of all skill levels

Our league plays at Houston Sportsplex in southwest Houston.

The best way to get involved is to attend one of our Recruitment Days. The Fall Season's Recruitment Day is scheduled for for Sunday, January 10th from 10am to 1pm.  Bring a glove, mask and non-metal cleats. We’ll provide the rest!

NAGAAA Member City

The MSLA is a member of North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance.  NAGAAA is an organization comprised of men and women dedicated to providing opportunity and access for the LGBT community to participate in organized softball competition in safe environments. Currently, more than 17,000 players from 45 cities across Canada and the United States participate in member leagues, and the best of these teams converge once a year for head-to-head competition at the annual Gay Softball World Series.
